Our Community Fridge Mixer & Film Preview transformed the Friends and Lovers nightlife venue into a gathering space for neighbors, storytellers, and mutual aid organizers reclaiming food and film as tools for collective empowerment.

Guests filtered in steadily, checking out the Fridge Finder web app installation over specialty mocktails and freshly made shrimp guacamole tostadas. The film preview offered a raw and tender glimpse into the lives behind New York City’s community fridges, showcasing a new pilot documentary series by Briana Calderón Navarro and Christine Forbes.

The night centered around our guest panelists from the local food justice movement, emphasizing the power of people who refuse to let others go hungry when there is limitless surplus food wasted by commercial businesses everyday that should be redirected to underserved families.
